COMPUTERS
what is a computer ?
a computer is any device which aids humans in performing various kinds of computations or calculations. the earliest computer was the abacus , used to perform basic arithmetic operations. every computer supports some form of input ,proccesing, and output.

EVOLUTIONS
first generation computers 1940s-1950s
first electronic computers used vacuum tubes, and they were huge and complex. the first general purpose electronic computer was the ENIAC electronic numerical integrator and computer .it was digital but it didn't operate with binary code .
second generation computers 1955 -1960
the second generation computers came about thanks to the invention of the transitor, which then started replacing vacuum tubes in computer design. transitor computers consumed far less power and were much smaller .
third generation computers 1960s
first appeared minicomputers that were still based on non microship transitors they were much smaller and cheaper than first and second generation of computers .

fourth generation 1971-present
first microchips -based central processing units consisted of multiple microchips for different CPU components . where all of the neccesary cpu components were put onto a single microship , called a microprocessor.
portable computersfirst microchips -based central processing units consisted of multiple microchips for different CPU components . where all of the neccesary cpu components were put onto a single microship , called a microprocessor.
the first laptop that was commercialized was osborne 1 in 1981 with a small 5´CRT monitor and a keyboard that sits inside of the lid when closed
HOW IT WORK
A computer works by manipulation of binary coded symbols (numbers), according to lists of binary coded instruction symbols. Everything in an electronic (digital) computer is binary coded symbols, whether it is data or instructions.
